GEICO Internship
During the summer of 2022, I had an eight week internship with GEICO at the Tucson office. During my time there, I learned a lot about the world of car insurance. We shadowed lots of associate, supervisors, and managers in almost every department. I also had the unique opportunities to talk with some of the higher ups in our region. The interns and I worked on three different projects for three different departments: Service, Claims, and Human Resources. At the end of these projects, we presented to a room full of managers to pitch our ideas to them. It was an amazing experience in a corporate real-life job, and I learned so much about myself during it. Click below to look at a full breakdown of everything I did!
BCOM 314 Case Competition
At the end of my first semester at Eller, my Business Communications class held a case competition for the company Shamrock Farms. We were given the task of coming up with a marketing campaign to celebrate 100 years of Shamrock. I worked with my team of five other business students from my class to create an in-person interactive booth that travels around the country to attend youth sports tournaments. My team won our room against four other teams.
"Outside Leadership Communication Evaluation" & Professional Persona Narrative
For my Business Communications class, I sent out an anonymous survey called "OLCE." This helped me collect data in order to better understand how others' perceive me and what leadership style I have. This information, and how I rated myself in PeopleStyles and Culture Map, helped me create this document called my Professional Persona Narrative. Some of the comments in the survey helped me create my testimonials page. To learn more about what this is and what I found, feel free to click on the button below.
Professional Persona Partners Presentation
This was a presentation with a small group for my Business Communication class. With two other students, we read a chapter in the textbook and presented on what we had learned to the class. We were additionally tasked with coming up with a creative activity as a part of the presentation. My teammates created the basic slide layouts, while I moved it to a different platform to design the slides in a visually appealing way.
BNAD 200 Case Competition
This was a group project for one of my classes, where we posed as a consulting company. We were given financial information about a company and some external research, which we had to use it to decide if an app or an e-commerce site would generate more revenue. We then presented to a panel of judges, and we ended up winning.
Industry Report - Migration from California to Texas
For my Business Communications class sophomore year, I was challenged with choosing an industry and writing about the opportunities it has, and what changes have arisen. I chose something that wasn't on the list, which was the big migration from California to Texas and what investment opportunities it provides. This was a very interesting project to research, as it was very relevant and not many people knew about it at the time. It was also close to home, since I came from California myself.
